“Angel Investing” Topic of Business Lecture at Seton Hill 10/17

Seton Hill University’s Wukich Center for Entrepreneurial Opportunities will present a free public lecture on “Angel Investing” by Catherine Mott and Yvonne Campos, on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 6 p.m. The event will be held in Cecilian Hall on the Second Floor of Seton Hill’s Administration Building. Please register by emailing dmason@setonhill.edu. The event is part of the Farrell Lecture Series at Seton Hill.

Catherine Mott, founder and CEO of BlueTree Capital Group and BlueTree Allied Angels, will present “Angel Investing 101: An Introduction to Angel Investing.” Yvonne Campos, founder of Campos Market Research and founder and CEO of Next Act Fund, Inc. will present “Women in Angel Investing: What’s Happening and Why?”

Angel Investors are successful business people who invest their own personal funds into a potentially rewarding business opportunity.

Catherine Mott is the past Chairman of the Angel Capital Education Foundation, an organization that researches angel capital, tracks angel capital, and provides education to bring professionalism and ethics to the industry.   In July 2010, she was named Chairman of the Board of the Angel Capital Association, the professional trade association for Angel Networks and Angel Funds in the U.S.  In September 2011, Catherine was one of 21 individuals selected for the SEC Advisory Committee on Small and Emerging Companies.

Previously, Catherine had founded Synergetic Sales Performance Group, and Indigo Capital Development, LLC.  In 2002, she was recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s 50 Best Women in Business.

Prior to forming her own businesses, Catherine worked 17 years in corporate banking management where she served in senior management roles. Today, she uses these experiences and her education to bring together capital and prime investment opportunities.

Yvonne Campos started the Next Act Fund to counter the fact that 99 percent of venture capitalists and 86 percent of angel investors are male. The Next Act Fund is by women and for women - and it invests in opportunities that others sometimes don’t see.

Before the Next Act Fund, Yvonne founded the market research and strategy firm Campos Inc., which became the premier research company in the Pittsburgh market by introducing new and innovative research techniques and consumer trend analysis. She successfully ran Campos Inc. for 30 years.

She is the founder of two Pittsburgh chapters of the Women Presidents’ Organization, a peer-to-peer learning model for women-owned businesses with revenues over $1 million dollars. Yvonne is a very active member of the Pittsburgh business community; she has been recognized locally, regionally and nationally for her entrepreneurship and community involvement.

The Farrell Lecture Series is sponsored by the Seton Hill University Wukich Center for Entrepreneurial Opportunities. The Wukich Center equips students with the entrepreneurial skills needed to address the challenges of an evolving global market – whether a student’s career path includes running his or her own business or serving as a leader within an existing one. The Wukich Center supports entrepreneurship through the creation of the Wukich Scholars and Wukich Interns Programs; through the initiation of The Wukich Venture Fund; and through collaborative efforts with community organizations. The Wukich Center also offers programs for the community, including business counseling, business plan creation and business education workshops.
