Journalism Graduate Coordinates News for Local TV Station

Laramie Cowan graduated from Seton Hill in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, specializing in journalism. After graduation, she applied to every job she thought fit her credentials.

In July, Laramie began working as the weekend assignment Editor for WJAC-TV News in Johnstown, Pa.

“I coordinate with the reporters and producers about what news is going to be covered and who is going to cover it,” she says.

During her time at Seton Hill, Laramie served as editor-in-chief of the university’s student-run news publication, the Setonian.

“I didn’t think I would get a job with a TV station because I’m so used to print publication," Laramie says. "I think they saw it as an opportunity to teach someone and I saw it as an opportunity to learn.”
