The Intercultural Student Services Office (ISS) and Intercultural Student Organization (ISO) sponsor many programs and activities throughout the academic year to help promote different cultures on campus. Activities of the ISO include: regular club meetings where intercultural and domestic students socialize; fundraisers; an annual Intercultural Food Fair where students prepare food and drink from their cultures and offer them to the Seton Hill community; parties with food, music, dancing and lots of fun; and off-campus trips.
Intercultural students also participate in the many other clubs and organizations at Seton Hill, and can also take advantage of the numerous activities that Seton Hill offers to its community, like weekly yoga sessions, kickboxing, white-water rafting, Coffee Houses, concerts, comedy shows, art exhibitions, and much more.
Mentorship Program
Seton Hill University offers a Mentorship Program to intercultural students who feel that they need a little assistance throughout the academic year. The assigned mentors help students with academic and social adjustment to the new environment.
ESL - English as a Second Language
English as a Second Language studies at Seton Hill offer international students the encouragement and support to succeed in the four literacy domains: writing, reading, speaking and listening. Professional staff assist students in the following areas: generating ideas for writing topics, locating main ideas within texts, demonstrating clear sentence structures to practice grammar rules and developing presentation skills. For English language learners, Seton Hill also offers two three-credit courses covering grammar, composition, listening and vocabulary development. These courses are offered on the intermediate and advanced levels. English language learners may also register for a one-credit tutorial course in written or spoken English.
