Seton Hill U. Student Group to Host Silent Art Auction 11/7
By: Kary L. Coleman - Monday, November 02, 2009

Seton Hill University’s Students in the Arts will host a silent art auction on Saturday, November 7, at the Stark-James Building, which is located on 41 West Otterman Street, Greensburg, Pa. The auction will consist of work by local artists and include sculptures, oil paintings, graphic design pieces, photography, and pottery. The viewing will take place from noon-4 p.m. The silent auction begins at 4 p.m. The event is open to the public and there is no charge to attend. Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit Seton Hill University’s Students in the Arts and Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital. For more information, call 724-880-5662.

This event is a service project for students enrolled in Senior Integrative Seminar. This project is a way for the students to actively apply Catholic social justice principles learned during their liberal arts education at Seton Hill University.

Students in the Arts (SITA) seek to facilitate and promote interaction among students as well as faculty with an interest in the arts. SITA will assist with the cultivation of an appreciation of the history of art as well as of contemporary artistic practice by providing opportunities for discussion, activities, and visits to museums, galleries, and art events throughout the school year.
The goal of SITA is to provide information as well as an interaction center for any student with interest in the arts, to create an open forum for communication among students and faculty, to promote awareness and campus appreciation for the arts at Seton Hill University, to encourage students to interact despite age or area of study and provide opportunities for student mentoring, to provide a variety of activities to coincide with the students' interests, and to work in accordance with one another to create an educational and social environment that will enhance the arts at Seton Hill University.
