Bio

Dr. King's professional career spans 37 years, beginning with 17 years as a Special Education Teacher with the Exceptional Children's Program of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, teaching classes in the Woodland Hills and Plum Borough School Districts. After earning his Ph.D. in Education from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. King spent 19 years as a Principal in the Steel Valley School District and the Jeannette City School District. As Principal, he chaired committees that promoted a number of initiatives, including Response to Intervention and Instruction, School Readiness Transition, "Reading First" reading instruction, Curriculum Mapping, Differentiated Instruction, special needs accommodations for Least Restrictive Environment,and the Elementary Student Assistance Program. In addition, Dr. King collaborated with many local Universities, including Seton Hill University, to provide their students with learning opportunities through a variety of field experiences.

  • Served as the Chairperson of the Jeannette McKee Elementary School Readiness Transition Team. Made up of Kindergarten teachers and representatives from local Pre-Schools, this team planned and implemented activities to promote a smooth transition for students and parents as they progressed from Pre-School to Kindergarten.
