Bio

Leading choirs has always been my dream. Passion is an infectious thing; it is my hope that the passion I bring to the podium in both rehearsal and performance will spread to my students and our audiences. I have worked in choral music for the past 20 years and have had the pleasure of conducting college choirs, high school choirs, community choirs, military choirs, and just about every other type of choir. I love sharing my passion with others. My goal, when working with vocal musicians, is to inspire them to be musically powerful. In reality they do all the heavy lifting - I just point the way! Choirs which I have the pleasure of leading come to understand this: we seek to honor the composers whose music we perform, honor the efforts of our fellow musicians, and honor those that come to hear us by freely giving the best of ourselves in performance. The best kind of personal reward is the one that is not sought out, but comes to us because of a focus on service. The sole reason I do what I do is wrapped up in that concept of service - and I hope I have had some small effect on how my students approach music and performance. I am rewarded when I see their eyes light up and I know that they are fully engaged in our music making. That is my reward.
