The mission of Seton Hill University's E-Magnify® center for women entrepreneurs is to "strengthen the economic impact of women business owners as a collective force and to advance their growth through innovative programming in entrepreneurship and new venture creation."
Since its inception in 1991, the center has reached thousands of women with its model educational initiatives and has distinguished itself as a leading authority on small business issues. Repeatedly named one of the Top 100 U.S. Colleges and Universities for entrepreneurs by Entrepreneur magazine, E-Magnify has a long-standing tradition of developing diversified and tailored programs encouraging entrepreneurial skills for women beginning with undergraduate students and extending through the graduate and professional life stages.
In assessing the changing needs of today's women business owners, E-Magnify offers a variety of resources, educational programs, advocacy initiatives and networking opportunities to women entrepreneurs. With a website recognized by Harvard Business School as a good source for "practical, non-gender-specific business content," E-Magnify is a leading provider of best-practice expertise and information. Focusing on three components for success, Entrepreneurship, Experience and Education, the center is committed to preparing entrepreneurs to be leaders in both their own businesses and the industries they serve.
Nationally, the work of Seton Hill University's E-Magnify has been awarded the prestigious "Vision 2000" State Model of Excellence Award by the Office of Advocacy, U.S. Small Business Administration; the Leavy Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education, First Place in the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Education Foundation's National Awards Program, and the Award of Excellence in Innovative Educational Programs from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
Under the direction of Director, Jayne H. Huston, the center's initiatives have been featured in numerous local, state and national media including CBS Saturday Morning, Teen Court-TV, The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Inc., Entrepreneur and Seventeen magazines. She is the 2001 recipient of the U.S. Small Business Administration's Region III "Women Business Advocate of the Year," Award and has been profiled as a "Pacesetter" of the Pittsburgh region by SBN Magazine, a distinction that demonstrates the center's commitment to making the world a better place for women entrepreneurs.
