NEW!! Youth Honors JAZZ Band
The Seton Hill University Community Arts Program is excited to announce the addition of the Youth Honors Jazz Band! Auditions are open to students in grades 6, 7, and 8 who play trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, guitar, bass, or drum set. Jazz students in grades 6, 7 and 8 are encouraged to prepare the required solo and audition for the ensemble. The auditioned band meets for three rehearsals and presents a concert with the Youth Honors Concert Band in the Reichgut Concert Hall in the Performing Arts Center. To allow students to audition for and participate in both bands, auditions will be held the same day as the Youth Honors Concert Band and rehearsals will be held in the mornings on the same days as the Youth Honors Concert Band (with the exception of the rehearsal before the concert). The concert will feature both groups.
Audition pieces are selected from Jim Snidero's Easy Jazz Conception books and posted online under the "Forms and Documents" link at www.setonhill.edu/cmp and will be rotated every three years.
We are happy to welcome SHU Faculty member and Director of the Seton Hill University Jazz Ensemble, Mr. Kevin McManus, as the conductor for the Youth Honors Jazz Band 2011-2012!
