Winds 'n Jazz in June

The Camp
This camp is chamber music at its best, with small ensembles, friendly faculty, and a whole week to enjoy it!
Throughout the week, campers perform in small mixed instrument ensembles, same instrument ensembles, jazz combos, (including pianists) and have classes and participate in special topics, including drum circles, music theory & history, movement/exercise, reed-making class for double reeds, and piano skills.
All campers receive private coaching on their instrument.
All applicants entering grade 8 through the graduating class of 2010 will be accepted. Younger students can be accepted by teacher referral.

FACULTY
Flute
Rosalind Stack holds a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from the Boston Conservatory. She is a member of the Allegheny Flute Association and adjunct professor of flute at Seton Hill University. Rosalind also performs as principal piccolo and flute in the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds.
Oboe/Assistant Director
Rise Kostilnik earned her BFA in oboe performance from Carnegie Mellon University. She is a long time member of the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, is principal oboe with the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds, and a frequent soloist at area churches. She is the oboe instructor at Seton Hill University, and maintains a private studio in her home in Gibsonia.
Clarinet
Lisa Molinaro holds a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Ohio University and a master's degree in Clarinet Performance from the University of South Carolina. She performs clarinet and bass clarinet frequently with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, local theatre, and high school musical productions throughout the Westmoreland area.

Saxophone
Kathleen Campbell holds a Bachelor of Music from Seton Hill University and a MM from the University of Cincinnati. She is associate professor of music at Seton Hill, where she teaches Theory, Saxophone, Music Ed., and Woodwind Ensemble.
Saxophone/Jazz
Greg Lutz holds a BS in Music Ed., a BM in Recording Arts and Sciences, and a MM in Jazz Tenor Saxophone Performance, all from Duquesne University. He teaches in the Kiski Area Public Schools at the elementary and high school levels, specializing in Instrumental Band Music and Jazz Improvisation courses.
Brass/Improvisation
Kevin McManus is adjunct professor of trombone at Seton Hill University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Penn State University and a Graduate Performer's Certificate from SUNY Purchase Conservatory. He has performed with the Pittsburgh and Wheeling Symphony Orchestras and the River City and Reunion Brass Bands.
Horn
David Lintz holds a BM from the New England Conservatory in Boston and a Concert Diploma from the Lucern Conservatory in Switzerland. He has continued master's studies at WVU in Morgantown, W. Va. and Temple University in Philadelphia. David is adjunct professor of horn at Seton Hill University.
Percussion
R.J. Heid is adjunct professor of percussion at Seton Hill University. R.J. holds a bachelor's degree in Music Therapy and master's degree in Music Performance, both from Duquesne University. He has performed with the Tempus Fugit Percussion Ensemble, Pittsburgh Musical Theater, Pittsburgh Public Theater, CLO Late Night Cabaret Theater, Bach Choir of Pittsburgh, and the Pittsburgh Symphony Brass Ensemble.
Piano
Edward M. Kuhn Jr. holds a BA from Carlow College and an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University with a certificate in Piano Pedagogy. He runs a private piano studio and is a frequent accompanist for recitals and festivals. He is adjunct professor of piano at Seton Hill University where he teaches piano majors, secondary piano, class piano, and piano pedagogy.
Director
Michelle Walters is director of Community Music at Seton Hill University. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Saint Vincent College. She is principal percussionist and pianist with the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds and frequent accompanist for area high school musicals and festivals. |
