Griffins Open Season With Road Win at Pitt Greensburg

The Griffin volleyball team opened its 2009 season with a 3-0 victory on the road at Pitt Greensburg. In game one, SHU scored the first 4 points of the game and closed out the game with 8 straight points for a 25-13 win. Game two was a little closer as UPG cut the Griffins lead to 11-10 at one point before falling by a 25-20 score. UPG started game three with a 3-2 lead, but the Griffins responded with a 5-0 run and cruised to a 25-15 win in game three. SHU will take part in the West Chester Tournament this weekend with starting with games against Wilmington (DE) and host West Chester on Friday.
