Griffins Pick Up First Win at St Vincent

The women's soccer team earned their first victory of the season with a 1-0 win on the road at St Vincent on Wednesday afternoon.
The Griffins were able to score the lone goal of the afternoon in the game's 25th minute, when Mackiesh Taylor knocked home a loose ball in front.
Late in the first half, the Lady Bearcats' Leanna Seminsky had a pair of scoring chances, but saw one shot ring off the crossbar before she was robbed at close range by Griffin goalie Jenna Forzano, and the game entered the intermission with the Griffins up 1-0.
The SVC offense again looked poised to tie the game a number of times in the second half, with their best opportunity of the afternoon coming in the 62nd minute. Midfielder Ann Henebery lofted a pass deep into Griffin territory, and it was chased down on the doorstep by teammate Carly Duffy. She sent the ball toward the lower corner of the net, but Fordazo managed to make another sparkling save from less than six feet out to preserve the shutout.
Seton Hill held a 20-12 advantage in total shots. The Griffin shutout was shared by keepers Forzano, who made four saves over the first 70 minutes of the game, and Sam Gilarski, who came on in the final 20 minutes to finish with two stops.
The Griffins return to action on September 10th when they host Houghton.
