Lash Leads Griffins to SHU Classic Title

Freshman Hannah Lash finished the 2009 SHU Griffin Classic in first place with a time 20:13.69 leading the Griffin women's team to the overall title for the event. The Griffins barely edged out Concord by one point in the team scoring. Lash set a new course record and earned her first collegiate championship in her first race. "I am very proud of how Hannah ran her first college race. I am also pleased with the effort of our entire team and am looking forward to an exciting cross country season, " stated head coach Tim Creamer.
The Griffins second best finisher was Andra Sanders who finished fifth with a time of 20:58.47. Julie Pierret finshed right behind Sanders in sixth place with a time of 21:26.96. Lara Heinz earned a tenth place finsih in the event with a time of 22:11.26. The Griffins fifth place finisher was Anna Cote in 12th place (22:42.07). Rounding out the Griffins top 7 were Dianna Griffin in 13th place (22:47.90) and Kyrsti Sowers in 15th place (23:25.56).
The Griffins will return to action next Saturday at the California (PA) Invitational.
