Griffins split with Davis & Elkins

The Seton Hill University softball team split a WVIAC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon against Davis & Elkins winning the first game 9-1 and dropping the second game 1-0 in eight innings. Seton Hill moves to 17-12 overall and 9-3 in the WVIAC while Davis & Elkins moved to 11-25 overall and 7-5 in the WVIAC.
The Griffins used an eight run third inning which sent 12 Griffins to the plate in route to the five inning win. Louanne Wiegand was 3 for 3 in the contest with two doubles and four RBI. Wiegand was also the winning pitcher going the complete game yielding only three hits and not giving up an earned run. Maggie Jones and Liz Piekut each picked up two hits in the game.
Game two saw Davis & Elkins hit a leadoff home run in the top of the eighth to shut the Griffins out. Seton Hill managed only four hits in the contest. Lisa Kaczynski, Jessi DiVittorio, Louanne Wiegand and Maggie Jones each had a hit apiece. Lyndsey Nusser took the loss pitching all eight innings and striking out ten.
Seton Hill will return to action on Monday when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM
