Seton Hill Women's Lacrosse
The 2009 Seton Hill Women's Lacrosse Team will look to improve on their 4 wins from the 2008 season in their first full season as NCAA Members. Second year head coach Courtney Tamasitis will look to her senior class to provide leadership as the Griffins will also be in the process of making the move to the East Coast Conference in 2010.
Senior midfielder Eileen Einsporn returns to lead the Griffin offense as the top returning scorer from last season. Einsporn scored 23 goals and added 7 assists. Also returning in the midfield will be sophomore Stephanie Lazzaro. Lazzaro had a good freshman season finishing with 10 goals and 16 assists. Returning to lead the Griffin attack will be junior Desiree Palmieri and sophomore Laura Hambruch. Palmieri scored 7 goals with 3 assists and Hambruch added 5 goals and 2 assists. Amanda Clontz will also be returning to the midfield position while Heather Donovan and Ashley White are newcomers to the squad and will be looked upon to give the Griffins depth at the attack position. Junior Katherine Crow will see time at the midfield position with freshman Amanda Malkowski and Alexandra Thompson, who is returning from injury, also expected to help at midfield. The Griffins return a veteran defensive crew led by senior Gabrielle White. Seniors Audrey Vivirito and Jillian Kowalewski along with junior Elyse Branham also return a ton of experience on the defensive backfield. Freshman Amanda Lee will also be expected to help protect the Griffin goal. Julie Woodburn returns for her sophomore season in net. Nadine Wallace will be backup to Woodburn in net.
The Griffins will open their season on February 27th when they travel to Bloomsburg. The home schedule begins when they host Holy Family on March 1st. The team will travel to Colorado where they will play three games including a game with Regis. After returning from Colorado, the Griffins will play 4 of 5 games on the road before finishing the season with 4 straight home games.
