Seton Hill Women's Lacrosse

The 2010 Seton Hill Women's Lacrosse Team will look to improve on their six wins in 2009. Head Coach Courtney Tamasitis returns for her third season as the Griffins enter their first year in the East Coast Conference. The team has refocused and rededicated; with a huge improvement in skills and the addition of several top recruits, the ’10 season is shaping up to be the best in program history.

The Griffins will look to returning seniors Ellen Einsporn and Laura Hambruch as leaders on attack. Einsporn lead the team in both goals (35) and assists (10) in 09, and is expected to have another stellar year. Hambruch netted 16 last season and will be a key threat around the cage. Also returning are junior Ashley White, a feeder and play director, and sophomore, Amanda Malkowski, a leading scorer. Freshman Morgan Cain joins the squad as a top scoring threat, while classmates Kelsey Pierson, Shanna Beichner and Hannah Nagowski will also look to make an impact.

In the midfield, junior Stephanie Lazzaro will run the Griffins’ transition game with her speed as she looks to improve on her 21 goals from last season. Freshman Rachel Hilbert adds solid play on both ends of the field, while Kinsey McKenrick also joins the mid.

The defense will be anchored by junior Katie Crow and sophomore, Amanda Lee. Crow returns as last year’s ground ball leader, while Lee’s vocal presence will direct traffic around the cage. Freshmen Alec Gulli and Kate Linkosky will make an immediate impact with their aggressive play and strong stick skills, while Kirsten Patrick and Elizabeth Snowman will also contribute.

Senior Julie Woodburn returns for her fourth season in the cage. Woodburn made 200+ saves in the 09 season, and was consistently ranked top ten in the NCAA for saves per game. She is backed by sophomore Nadine Wallace, who will also see playing time on defense.

The Griffins’ season begins on March 3rd, with a home opener against PSAC leader, Bloomsburg. Following, the squad departs for North and South Carolina for games against St. Andrews and Converse. This year, the team will be challenged with ECC games against top ten teams C.W. Post and Dowling. In matching up against these established programs, the Griffins hope to improve their NCAA standing and become more competitive in Division II. The team is preparing for its tough schedule, and welcomes the challenges to come. 2010 will undoubtedly be an exciting season for players and fans!
