Seton Hill Men's Lacrosse
The Seton Hill men's lacrosse team recently finished the 2009 season with several new accomplishments that add to their increasingly impressive reputation amongst the Division II ranks. Several key victories along with long stints in both the media and coaches poll show that the Griffins continue to push toward the top of Division II.
The Griffins finished the 2009 season with a record of 8-5. Key victories over then #10 Belmont Abbey, Southern New Hampshire, Dominican College, Wheeling Jesuit, and Division II powerhouse Dowling College, who had been ranked as high as #4, helped put Seton Hill into the national rankings.
On March 8th 2009, for the first time in the programs brief history, Seton Hill entered into the USILA coaches poll as the #10 team in the nation. The Griffins would spend a total of four weeks throughout the season ranked in the USILA coaches poll and climbed to the # 9 ranking on 2 separate occasions. It took a bit longer to enter into the Laxnews.com media poll. The Griffins entered into this poll on March 28th 2009 and remained there for the final six weeks of the regular season and finished the season as the #10 ranked team in the NCAA Division II.
Seton Hill will look to continue their climb to the top of Division II in 2010. Their road will not be easy as they will enter into the East Coast Conference (ECCSports.org), which boasts many of the best teams in the country. An ECC team has won an unprecedented 11 of the past 17 NCAA Division II national championships. The Griffins will travel to 2009 National Champions CW Post for their first game as an ECC member on March 6, 2010.
