Seton Hill Men's Cross Country

The men's cross country team and head coach Tim Creamer are looking forward to the 2009-2010 season and their fourth season as a member of the WVIAC. The Griffins will look to continue their move to the top of the WVIAC and improve upon their fourth place team finish at the 2008 WVIAC Cross Country Championships. The 2009 men's cross country team lost no seniors from 2008 and return upperclassmen Jess Bradley, Josh Wilks, Mike Ortiz, Chris Bartko , Tyler Ferrari, Matt Kelly, Robert Zanni, and team captain Ben Rogers. Of these upperclassmen, three were 2008 WVIAC All-Conference runners: Bradley (10th place), Ortiz (15th place), and Rogers (17th place). Added to the Griffin squad this year are three talented freshmen: Jon Bogert, Dominic Camasso, and Justin Weaver. These rookies will make an immediate impact on the SHU team. They look to lead the Griffin men to a successful 2009 season along with juniors Rogers and Ortiz. The 2009 men's cross country team will look to carry on the winning tradition the past teams have set. "This season I expect our team to really run well together. If they run as a pack and push each other each day in practice, we will be a team to contend with in October at conferences. We had some nice success last year, now these men must build on that and raise the bar in 2009," said Coach Creamer.

The Griffins will compete in 6 invitational meets during the 2009 regular season, which are highlighted by two local meets, the season opener SHU Griffin Classic on the Seton Hill campus and California University Invitational. The women will also travel to meets at Davis and Elkins College, Glenville State College, and to the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic in Kentucky. The team will travel to the Mountaineer Flatland Invitation to run on the NCAA D-II regional course. The season will wind down at the WVIAC Cross Country Championships hosted by Glenville State College in late October along with the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Championships in November hosted by Mansfield University where Creamer will look to qualify his team for the 2009 NCAA National Championships on November 21nd hosted by the University of Southern Indiana.
