Home Schooled Students

Seton Hill University offers a special welcome to homeschoolers. The University has found that students with a homeschooling background are often high achievers. The University's small size makes Seton Hill ideal for you. Personal attention is made possible by the 16:1 student:teacher ratio, the Tutoring Center, the Writing Lab, and other friendly services.

An admission decision will be issued once the following credentials have been received:
  • A completed application form, including an essay, and a $35 non-refundable application fee;
  • SAT or ACT scores;
  • A letter of recommendation;
  • An official high school transcript issued by the school district or agency approving the curriculum, including an official date of graduation , or a GED.
In addition an academic portfolio of work is much appreciated.

Erie Area Homeschoolers

A program serving Erie County and extending into Northwest Pennsylvania. Transcripts must be filed by February 1st of the student's senior year.

Pennsylvania Homeschoolers Accreditation Agency (PHAA)

At least 15 units of coursework are preferred for admission. These units should include:
  • 4 units of English
  • 4 units of college preparatory mathematics
  • 2 units of social studies
  • 1 unit of laboratory science
  • 2 units or more of the same foreign language (If a foreign language was not taken, that requirement must be fulfilled while the student is enrolled at Seton Hill.)
  • 4 academic electives
In addition, Seton Hill does accept Advanced Placement, CLEP, and DANTES credits.
