Undergraduate Students

English Language Proficiency

If English is not your native language, we accept any of the following as a demonstration of English language proficiency:

  • TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer- based), or 79 - 80 (Internet-based).
  • IELTS score of 6.0.
  • Completion of 30 semester hours at a U.S. university.
  • Completion of an ESL program.
  • Satisfactory SAT or ACT score.

First-Year Students

To apply to Seton Hill as an incoming freshman, you will need to provide:

  • A completed application. (Apply for free at www.setonhill.edu.)
  • An official secondary school transcript.
  • A recommendation letter from a counselor or academic teacher.
  • Official scores for at least one of the following: SAT, TOEFL, ACT or IELTS.
  • Financial Support Document (PDF). (Or you may also use the College Board’s Financial Support Document).

Transfer Students

To apply to Seton Hill as a transfer student, you will need to provide:

  • A completed application. (Apply for free at www.setonhill.edu.)
  • Official college transcripts from all colleges/universities attended.
  • Official high school transcripts (for applicants with less than 30 transferrable credits).
  • Official scores for at least one of the following: SAT, TOEFL, ACT or IELTS.
  • An official course evaluation report from the World Education Service (WES) for all university courses taken.

Graduate Students

To apply to Seton Hill as a graduate student, you will need to provide:

  • A completed application. (Apply for free at www.setonhill.edu.)
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Official undergraduate transcripts from all institutions attended.
  • Official transcript(s) from any institution(s) in which postbaccalaureate or graduate course work was taken.
  • Evidence of ability to do graduate work as indicated by a minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
  • Three letters of recommendation written by appropriate professionals.
  • An official course evaluation report from the World Education Service (WES) for all university courses taken.
  • Approval by the graduate program’s admissions committee.
  • Declaration of Finances (PDF).
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores as noted in the table below:
