Program Mission

The Seton Hill University Coordinated Program in Nutrition and Dietetics is dedicated to the development of students who will be assets to the Dietetics profession. The mission of the Seton Hill University Coordinated Program is to provide the environment in which students integrate the liberal arts, professional didactic courses and supervised practice experience to provide dietetic services that enhance individual and family life. The Seton Hill University Coordinated Program also views service to the local area as another part of its mission.

Program Goals & Outcome Measures

Program Goal 1  

The program will prepare graduates to be competent entry-level dietitians.

Outcome 1.1 At least 80% of students beginning the coordinated phase of the dietetics program (equivalent of junior year) will successfully complete the program/degree requirements within three years which is 150% of the time planned for completion.

Outcome 1.2 Over a five-year period, 80% or more of coordinated program graduates who sought employment in dietetics will be employed within 12 months of program completion.

Outcome 1.3 Over a five-year period, the pass rate for coordinated program graduates taking the registration examination for the first time will be at least 80%.

Outcome 1.4 Over a five-year period, the mean rating of core and concentration competencies as assessed by graduate survey respondents will meet or exceed the rating of “3” (on a 1-5 scale) on graduate survey.

Outcome 1.5 Over a five-year period, the mean rating of overall educational preparation as assessed by graduate survey respondents will meet or exceed the rating of “3” (on a 1-5 scale) on graduate survey.

Outcome 1.6 Over a five-year period, the mean rating of educational preparation that responding employers give program graduates will meet or exceed the rating of “3” (on a 1-5 scale) on employer survey.

Program Goal 2

The program will prepare graduates to demonstrate a commitment to community and professional service.

Outcome 2.1 Over a five-year period, at least 25% of students completing the first year of the coordinated program will have participated in at least three service projects while at Seton Hill University in addition to those required in core curriculum courses.

Outcome 2.2 At least 30% of graduates responding to an alumni survey completed every five years will report participation in community and/or professional service.

Program Goal 3  

The program will prepare graduates committed to lifelong learning.

Outcome 3.1  Ninety percent of graduates responding to an alumni survey completed every five years will report pursuing an advanced degree or participating in continuing education activities.
