Accounting Major Has First Job Lined Up at Ernst & Young

Heather Harvan (SHU ’15) is looking forward to beginning her career at Ernst & Young. An accounting major, Heather connected with the firm early in her senior year. 

“I found out about this position through the Pittsburgh Accounting Consortium,” Heather says. “I submitted my resume through Seton Hill's connection with the Consortium. Ernst & Young was one of the firms that selected me.”

Clinton Global Initiative University Honors Accounting and International Organizations Major Dipeeka Bastola

In Dipeeka Bastola’s hometown of Kathmandu, public school students often work to contribute to the family income. Dipeeka and two friends from Westminster College have created a program to help these young workers manage the money they are earning. This program received honors at the Clinton Global Initiative University, where Dipeeka and young leaders from 80 countries met to discuss specific, measurable initiatives to address challenges faced by communities around the world.

The Program

As a student in the Accounting Program, you will:

  • Complete the coursework and credit requirements necessary to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination in Pennsylvania, as well as the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exams.
  • Use analytical skills and the appropriate technology to analyze numerical data for the purpose of professional evaluation and decision-making.
  • Develop the skills to think and respond creatively in professional situations.
  • Incorporate a global perspective in professional decision-making and apply entrepreneurial skills in personal and professional practice.
  • Benefit from a comprehensive, supervised internship, providing you with a “real world” understanding of your field and the type of experience that gives you a competitive edge in the job market. Seton Hill provides internship opportunities in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program supervised by the United States Internal Revenue Service.
