Opportunity Program

The Opportunity Program is held the week preceding the start of the fall semester. It is designed to give students a head start in their educational career at Seton Hill University and learn how to connect to the larger campus community. Students will make a satisfactory transition to the college experience and enhance their chances for academic success.

The Opportunity Program introduces the student to both the academic and the social aspects of college life. Career and educational planning, effective decision making strategies, and basic skill development in reading, writing, and critical thinking will be addressed. The student will also attend "Faculty Forums," a series of lectures given by Seton Hill faculty to introduce subjects such as management, history, and social work.

Who qualifies?
The Opportunity Program is open to a select group of students. The size of the program is limited to ensure that each student receives the kind of attention that will promote success. The Admissions Committee determines student eligibility, based on some of the following criteria:
  • low SAT or ACT scores,
  • low high school GPA,
  • non-academic courses in high school, or
  • high school grades do not reflect student's potential
If you would like more information about the Opportunity Program, you may contact the Admissions Office directly, or the Director of the Academic Support Program:
