Academic Counseling
Academic Counseling assists students in achieving academic success in their classes, reaching graduation successfully, and taking learning strategies with them beyond their college years. Study skills such as taking notes, reading college text books and test taking strategies are common topics that students look to learn more about through Academic Counseling. Academic planning such as time management, goal setting, and creating a graduation plan are also common topics. As needed, Academic Counseling can go much further by exploring how students learn, what strategies work best in different learning environments, and how the big picture of behaviors, attitudes and personal qualities factor into success.
Students are encouraged to take a proactive approach to their course work and sharpen their academic skills before a problem occurs in a particular class. Appointments can be made or students can walk in for assistance. The Academic Counseling office is located in Room 508 of the Administration Building.
