Osteopathic Medicine Cooperative Degree Program with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine

Admission Criteria

Phase I/Pre-Med: Bachelor of Science in Biology or Biochemistry, Seton Hill University

A prospective student must:

  1. be accepted to Seton Hill University as a full-time student,
  2. have a combined SAT score (Critical Reading + Math) of 1170 or better, or ACT Composite score of 26 or better,
  3. have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale,
  4. be a first-time college student (not transferring from another college or university), and
  5. agree not to apply to another medical school's program while enrolled in the cooperative degree program with LECOM.

Phase II: Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, LECOM at Seton Hill

To be eligible for Phase II a student must:

  1. maintain full-time status throughout participation in Phase I,
  2. be enrolled in Phase I of the "3 + 4" track by February 1 of the freshman year of study at Seton Hill, or be enrolled in Phase I of the "4 + 4" track by February 1 of the second year of study at Seton Hill,
  3. be a United States citizen or a permanent U.S. resident,
  4. complete the minimum course requirements - no CLEP, AP (science requirements only), transferred-in, repeated, summer study, or Pass/Fail courses will be accepted - with a grade of "C" or better in each and with no "W," "WP," or "WF" grades on the transcript,
  5. complete all degree requirements for the Seton Hill degree,
  6. display scholarly and professional potential to practice medicine and express the desire to become an osteopathic physician,
  7. not apply to another medical school's accelerated program (unless not accepted by LECOM),
  8. have earned a cumulative Seton Hill grade point average of 3.5 or better,
  9. have earned a cumulative Seton Hill grade point average of 3.3 or better in science coursework,
  10. have an MCAT score of 24 or higher, with no lower than a score of 7 in any category, as of February 1 of the year of matriculation,
  11. clear a criminal record check (LECOM will do a state and/or federal background check on all matriculating students), and
  12. meet and agree to LECOM's Health and Technical Standards.
Shadowing an osteopathic physician is also highly recommended.

To gain final acceptance into LECOM, a student must:

  1. meet all requirements listed above,
  2. apply to LECOM through the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) and submit a LECOM secondary application by November 15 of the year prior to anticipated matriculation into Phase II,
  3. submit the online LECOM secondary application by January 1 of the year of matriculation,
  4. arrange for letters of recommendation and all supporting documentation to be submitted for review by LECOM, and
  5. provide a letter of recommendation from an osteopathic physician by April 1 of the year of matriculation.
