Certificate in Pastoral Ministry
 |
 |
In my experience, Seton Hill Universities Pastoral Ministry Certificate Program is among the very best at producing the total learning experience, which extends the value of the investment well beyond the classes. Whether it is the deliberate ways in which they design the curriculum to strengthen peer networks throughout the program, or it is the unparalleled quality of the details of the professors. Seton Hill has given me the confidence that I need to be a very good effective minister!

The Certificate in Pastoral Ministry program is a joint venture of Seton Hill University and the Diocese of Greensburg. Designed originally to develop and promote competent women and men for service as lay ecclesial ministers, the program now also serves as a resource to the diocesan Office for the Permanent Diaconate. The goal of the certificate program is the integration of the human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral formation of adults who are committed to the mission of Christ within the Roman Catholic Church. Students have as their main focus service to the People of God in a variety of ecclesial contexts.
Spiritual Formation Activities
In addition to academic study, pastoral ministry students participate in a variety of activities designed to assist in the spiritual formation of the lay ecclesial minister. These activities include: a spiritual retreat at the beginning of the program, an evening of recollection each semester, a retreat at the end of the program, maintaining a journal of theological and spiritual reflection and participation in selected events sponsored and/or required by the Diocese of Greensburg.
Admissions Information
A student for the Program in Ministry at Seton Hill University must meet all of the academic standards set by the University for admission to the program. These are as follows:

Sponsorship
Since the goal of the program is to prepare a person for ministry in a particular church communion, sponsorship by a church judicatory is also required. For parishioners of the Greensburg Diocese, an application form must be completed and submitted to the Office for Lay Ecclesial Ministry in order to be reviewed for sponsorship.
