Rome, Italy
Victoria Marie Gribschaw, S.C., Ph.D. and Mary Kay Neff, S.C., M.F.A.
On September 19, 2002, we embarked on our first trip to Europe with the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums-destination, Rome, Italy. We visited as many of the galleries, museums, churches, and historical sites as we could "cram" into our five days in Rome, Assisi and the Vatican City.
Websites of places we visited:
- The Borghese Gallery
- The Capitaline Museum is the oldest museum in the western world.
- The Vatican Museums in Vatican City
- Churches in Assisi
Sister Victoria Marie was fascinated by the contrasts in the ancient and modern architecture and incorporated information about urban and rural housing in her housing course.
As a member of the Art faculty, Sister Mary Kay was able to see first hand much of the art that she has studied in books and slides. She will be using some of the slides that she took in her art classes.
