Marriage & Family Therapy Program
Welcome to the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Seton Hill University

Do you dream of making a difference in the world by helping families?

Seton Hill's Marriage and Family Therapy Program is committed to training highly-skilled therapists with a deep understanding of family systems. We believe in the power of relationships - within families, and among individuals - and we prepare clinicians who work from a systemic and relational perspective in addressing issues related to mental health. Seton Hill's program - accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Training and Education of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy - leads to a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy and also provides our students with the education necessary to seek licensure as a marriage and family therapist in Pennsylvania, and clinical membership in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

What distinguishes marriage and family therapists from other disciplines is an emphasis on relationships as an important factor for mental health, and the close attention marriage and family therapists pay to the development of clinical skills. What distinguishes Seton Hill's Marriage and Family Therapy Program from other, similar programs is a training model committed to social diversity and development of the self of the therapist as the most essential tool in clinical work.

Seton Hill offers a 60 credit curriculum which leads to a Master of Arts (M.A.) in marriage and family therapy. Our belief in the power of relationships means we work to create a learning environment that is collaborative, diverse and empowering. This is not only our educational strategy; it is also our way of living our values.
Accreditation Status
The Seton Hill University Marriage and Family Therapy Program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
