Childhood Ambition: To be a teacher

Seton Hill Major: Nutrition/ Dietetics

My First Job: Hill's Dry Cleaners

Fondest SHU Memory: There are way too many to choose just one! My four years at Seton Hill were four of the very best years of my life. I met some of the most genuine and wonderful people at Seton Hill including my fiance, Greg. Some of my top memories include my Cross Country Team, Christmas on the Hill, Coffee Talks, No-Bake Cookies and Omelets at Lowe Dining Hall, Food Service Management Dinners, The Business Plan Competition and Iron-Chef: Seton Hill, going to FNCE with the Dietetics Club, DeChantal Hall where I spent three wonderful years and my Supervised Practice at Monongahela Valley Hospital.

First Job after Graduation: My first job was as a clinical dietitian at Schuylkill Medical Center in Pottsville, Pa. working with Sodexo. I am currently working at St. Elias, a long-term care hospital in Anchorage, Alaska as a clinical dietitian.

Proudest Moment: My proudest moment was graduation. The Coordinated Dietetics Program was challenging and graduating was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Coming in at a close second and third were landing a job and officially becoming a registered dietitian.

Advice to a Seton Hill Student: Work hard, play hard, enjoy your time at Seton Hill and remember... all of the hard work will eventually pass and you will become a well-rounded, smarter, more grown-up, professional who is ready to enter the workforce! Also, you only get back what you put into your experience at Seton Hill, so get involved, have fun and stay focused!

Fondest SHU Memory: Graduation from SHU when you are congratulated by each and every faculty member.

First Job after Graduation: Clinical dietitian at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida.

Proudest Moment: Receiving Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year by the Florida Dietetic Association.

Advice to a Seton Hill Student: Keep an open mind regarding your career because you never know what opportunities will come your way.
Caroline Jones, R.D., L.D. '08

Caroline Jones Hometown: Boothbay, Maine

Childhood Ambition: To be a marine biologist

Seton Hill Major: Dietetics

My First Job: Working in the kitchen in a local seafood restaurant

Fondest SHU Memory: I would say it is a toss-up. I loved being a member of the cross country team and have made lifelong friendships with some great people because of it. I also really loved the women in the Dietetics Program. There were only six of us and we became an extremely close-knit, supportive group who worked together and had some great times. Although we weren't always doing exactly the same things for our classes or internships, we were always there for each other and had a blast.

First Job after Graduation: Nutrition coordinator for seven Head Starts in Midcoast Maine

Proudest Moment: I would have to say I was very proud to have landed a job by January of my senior year. Although I still had a semester left of college to complete, it was nice to know I had a job waiting. I would also say passing the exam to become a Registered Dietitian on my first try was a very proud moment.

Advice to a Seton Hill Student: Seton Hill expects you to be the best student you can. The Dietetics Program was very challenging and forced me to be extremely focused on my studies. That being said, it prepared me to be a Registered Dietitian in only four years and allowed me to obtain a job right out of college. I think it also helped me to be able to handle my job well, multi-task and be part of a team. I would advise any student, regardless of the program they're enrolled in, to work hard and give everything your all. It may be challenging at times and there will be a lot expected of you, but keep your head up, it will pay off.
Renee T. Price, R.D., L.D.N. '07

Renee Price Hometown: Irwin, Pa.

Childhood ambition: I wanted to be a teacher. I would make my little brother sit in a room and play school for HOURS at a time!

Seton Hill Major: Nutrition/Dietetics

My First Job: Babysitting

Fondest SHU Memory: Hmm ... this is a tough one! I would have to say the many "dinners" we participated in as part of Food Service Systems Management. We always found a way to make them fun despite all the hard work!

First Job after Graduation: Clinical dietitian at The Children's Institute. I loved this job, but it was a temporary position to cover a maternity leave.

Proudest Moment: Graduation! I remember having my initial meeting with Dr. Sandrick thinking I am not sure if I can do this, but I really want to give it a shot and 4 years later I had done it!

Advice to a Seton Hill Student: Do not give up! All the hard work pays off in the end and is completely worth every minute!
