Graduation and/or Program Completion Requirements

In order to graduate from Seton Hill University and receive a verification statement signifying completion of the Coordinated Program, a student must successfully complete all course and supervised practice requirements of the Coordinated Program and all requirements of the baccalaureate degree. Upon receipt of verification statement, the student is eligible to take the examination to become a registered dietitian.

Post-baccalaureate students are not required to obtain a baccalaureate degree from Seton Hill in order to become eligible to take the registration exam. However, depending upon the number of credits a post-baccalaureate student needs to successfully complete the requirements of our program, the post-baccalaureate student will be awarded either a Bachelor of Science degree or a certificate in dietetics from Seton Hill and will receive a verification statement. A post-baccalaureate student must provide an official transcript indicating previous completion of a baccalaureate degree. Post-baccalaureate students interested in earning a second Bachelor of Science degree should contact the Registrar's Office for credit requirements.

In order to enhance our students' study skills during their years at Seton Hill, an academic counselor provides three study skill sessions for our students and is also available to work with students on an individual basis. After graduation, we encourage our alumni to attend a registration exam review course. Our program's current five-year first-time test-taker pass rate is 63%. Looking at individual years, of our seven graduates in 2010, five students passed the test on the first attempt for a first-time pass rate for 2010 of 71%. As of August 31, 2011, seven of eight alumni who graduated in 2011 have already taken the registration exam. All seven of these alumni reported passing on the first try.
