Chemistry Program

Chemists do amazing things. Using a knowledge of the chemicals that make up everything in our world, chemists find cures for disease, make our homes and environments safer, help solve crimes and create new technologies. With a degree in chemistry from Seton Hill, you will be prepared for a career, and life, full of opportunity.

Seton Hill offers both a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in chemistry.

Seton Hill's experienced Ph.D. faculty will provide you with individualized attention in the classroom and the lab, and will also help to advise you as you make decisions about your future.

Because laboratory courses are small, you will do more than just watch experiments - you will perform them yourself, using the same sophisticated laboratory equipment that your professors use.

As an upperclassman, you will have the opportunity to take part in ongoing research here on campus and through research internships at universities and institutions across the country. Recent science and health majors at Seton Hill have participated in research projects at the Mayo Clinic (cell biology), Ohio State University (HIV) and Johns Hopkins University (prostate cancer).

Right here at Seton Hill, a group of student researchers, led by faculty members in chemistry and biology, just completed a multi-year study on the response of individuals with deficiencies in DNA repair pathways to potential toxins. This opportunity came as a result of a Seton Hill contract with IMS Government Solutions, the Department of Defense and the United States Air Force.

Seton Hill is a small university, so you will have the chance to get to know your professors and classmates, and to make new friends that will become your professional mentors and colleagues in the years to come. (You will also have the opportunity to meet and receive assistance from the many successful scientists, researchers and science educators who are Seton Hill graduates.)

At Seton Hill you will be studying in a signature degree program at a nationally-recognized liberal arts university, so you will receive not just the best in science education - you will graduate with a broad skill set and a deeper understanding of the arts, sciences and humanities.

Since 1885, Seton Hill has been preparing students like you to succeed in life, whatever you chose to do, wherever your life takes you. Let us help you to do something amazing.
